GRANIET

Relationship therapy with the rule of law

Music theatre (2025)

At the invitation of the Council of State, Arlon created a new music theater piece on the theme of
the rule of law. The cast of 15 young voices conducted research together with a relationship
therapist, an Ubuntu specialist, a philosopher, and a deep democracy trainer. Based on this research, a libretto and composition were written for voice and organ. The performance interweaves choral singing, group choreography, acting and installation art. In the monumental Council of State, a ritual unfolds in which rules are given space to breath and freedom comes under pressure. Together with the audience, the performers explore what happens when the system begins to shift, and who is then given the space to speak.

The work is built around themes such as justice, responsibility, and collective decision-making.
Through sound, movement, and ritual, GRANIET explores how we can listen to those who have no
voice but still want to be heard. The performance invites reflection: how much order is necessary
for freedom to exist?
